Simion Nick Stirbu, President and CEO, founded SD Electric in 1995. In the winter of 2017, Simion envisioned a new direction for the company, entrusting his twin sons, David and Ionathan, with the roles of property managers and rebranding the business as SDI Electric Group.

 

Before establishing his own business, Simion worked as an electrical technician for M3 Electric. He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and, originally from Romania, developed a strong work ethic early in life. At 22, he moved to the Chicagoland area, where he began his career as an electrical engineer. As a long-time resident of Chicago, Simion takes great pride in both his city and its people.

 

When he is not working, Simion participates in outreach efforts through SDI Electric, where he and his team are actively involved in feeding the homeless, contributing to the community's well-being.

David Stirbu brings over 18 years of experience to his role as Senior Project Engineer at SDI Electrical Group. He oversees daily operations including electrical testing, inventory coordination, scheduling, and HR responsibilities such as hiring and employee management. David also supports client relationships by preparing detailed proposals and quotes.

He is a certified journeyman electrician through NCCER, holds an OSHA 30 safety card, and is certified in EV charger installation (EVSE) and solar energy systems (NABCEP). As an accredited instructor with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), David is passionate about training future professionals.

His areas of expertise include high-voltage, low-voltage, and solar systems, as well as electrical safety training. Notable projects include Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites, Lou Malnati’s, Goodyear, and Midas. David is driven by a commitment to quality and a strong belief in lifelong learning and craftsmanship.

Jonathan Stirbu, twin brother of David Stirbu, has been an integral part of the family business since his teenage years. He began his career as an electrical apprentice and has steadily advanced in his role over time.

 

Currently serving as an Electrical Supervisor, Jonathan specializes in managing workflow, training new apprentices, creating and overseeing team schedules, evaluating performance, providing feedback, and resolving employee issues and disputes. With a strong eye for design, he consistently ensures that the quality of his work exceeds client expectations.

 

In addition to his practical experience, Jonathan holds a Master’s degree in Business Management and Marketing and is an ABC-certified electrician. His presence on any project guarantees a job well done. Jonathan also contributes to the industry by teaching electrical courses at Associated Builders and Contractors.
